This should be the poster for the rebellion recruitment.
With my heart beating all the way through
No kidding my heart was beating fast too. This episode was cool for two reasons
1. It managed to mix in the school drama abit while also moving the plot.
2. It was able to show Lelouch’s emotions once again. This time in a very definitive way
3. There were other reasons.
First the episode opens up with some confusion. We thought Lelouch was acting as Zero. Turns out C.C. was the one performing the message (with Lelouch’s voice being pre-recorded), Lelouch fooled us again. Lelouch is at school to deceive the intelligence agency into thinking that he has not awakened as Zero yet. And so Rolo does not act against Li infront of the embassy
We get some nice dialogue between C.C. and Kallen
We see Lelouch and the student council together. Acting as they always do (Milly teasing Lelouch, Shirely getting embarassed, ETC).

This episode confirms Rolo as a member of the people watching Lelouch (the Intelligence section). Rolo inquires how Lelouch was able to get away from the military surrounding the building. Lelouch is able to counter the question by saying that Rolo should wonder why he got away from the terrorists. Here Lelouch remembers that he gave Rolo a locket on Nunally’s birthday (which understandbly annoys him). He also realizes that everyone has had Nunally erased from their mind.
To outwit the Agency he goes to the mall with Shirely (with Rivalz, Milly, and Rolo behind them..secretly). When Shirely points out a monorail car (to hide the fact she was looking at a kissing couple) she inadvertently reminds Lelouch of the time he had to use Geass on her to erase his prescence from her mind. He reminds himself that it was his fault. He also notes that he hates that Britannia has done the same thing to his Student Council friends when erasing Nunally from their minds.
I really liked this scene in particular (see reason number 2). Lelouch still holds regret for what he did to Shirely and does not wish for anyone else close to him to suffer a similar fate.
Fanservice? Doesn’t really matter though
Also in this episode we get a cute embarassed moment from Kallen, when C.C. is conferring with the Chinese Federation’s ambassador. Here Li notes that he knows who Kallen is, and that he is intrigued by the Knights. Guilford announces that he will execute the captured members of the Knights if Zero does not meet him for a duel (SHOBU!)
To sum up the rest of this episode. Lelouch counters the Britannian agency using scare tactics, geass to cause a firearm activation, and using geass to falsify information. He confronts Rolo back at Ashford.
Rolo uses his geass to take the gun from him and begins to pull the trigger. Li begins attacking the Black Knights saying that they will be destroyed.
Impression:
The music was particularly good this episode. The theme that plays when C.C. reveals that she is playing as Zero (this theme played quite often with her in the first season). I like the way one of the tracks cut in around 9:49 (when Lelouch and Rolo talk).
This episode showed Lelouch’s awesome planning again. Only here it seemed a bit more interesting because he had to do it without the Black Knights which he hasn’t done in a while (or possibly since episode 3 of R1). I really smiled when he the Britannian agents. I also love how he acted innocent when talking to Rolo.
Rolo’s geass is a form of mental blanking. Looks to have a large ra I reallys midius. And can be used twice on the same person. From this and the Emperor’s geass I think it’s easy to say that all forms of geass affect mental realms.
More on Rolo: he’s odd. More on Geass having the “sense of self” theme. He seems to have some form of attachment to Lelouch. Though I think he likely doesn’t really know it. Scary past to be revealed….Also the way he killed the one member of the Intelligence agency was really ruthless.
Lelouch countering his permanent geass through a contact lense does make sense, the series has emphasized that direct eye contact is necessary for geass to work.
Li taking action against the Black Knights was surprising. Though I think there might be something big behind his actions. Notice that he didn’t kill the member who was radioing in. If he was serious he would have killed the member fast. Of course I could be totally wrong and simply didn’t kill the member out of honor or something.
I like Lelouch’s “stalker outfit”. It has a cool carefree style
Bastard wants to steal my awesome blue hat
Also love C.C.’s black dress.
C.C.’s pose here is nice (legs crossed <3). Kallen isn’t bad either.
Next episode we will see how Lelouch gets out of getting a gun pressed against his head by a perception controlling lunatic.

If we got that official art. Then we’d all be fine with Code Geass.

Rolo loev Lulu. I want to know how Lulu manages to squirm out of this one.
I’m still torn on the C.C. vs Kallen front, they’re making it so damn hard for me to pick a fav.
