Shina Dark

There have been lots of posts about this series (it’s going to be an upcoming anime). Since I’m sort of familiar with it I decided to write on it aswell. I’ll summarize this quickly because it’s likely you’ve already read some on it already.

Shina Dark is easy to summarize. Taking place in a Fantasy land with legends, magic, and kingdoms, there is a “Satan” who lives on the Island of “Shina Dark” and finally awakens on the day of a certain eclipse. Legend say that he will reign destruction on the land if he is not given a sacrifice of 1000 maidens from the Kingdoms.

When the Satan himself, Exoda C. Crown (there are tons of ways to romanize his name BTW), hears this from his blank expressioned butler (Vincent) and magic-doll maid (Noel) he is incredibly surprised at thus he turns down the offers of two such Princess (Galett Fey Suage and Christina Rey Holden) to become his mistress and/or wife. Of course they don’t take this well and explain to him that they will be considered “cursed” if they return to their Kingdoms.

On the characters.

Satan is just funny, he’s not a boring, generic protagonist. He’s not supremely reactive (he doesn’t get annoyed easy) and that’s a good thing. He’s incredibly laid back. and from all this I’m interested in how Daisuke Ono will voice him.

Vincent and Noel. The blank faced butler and the genki maid. Vincent’s speech is simple which makes him funny already. Noel is the maid character, and she’s usually the one with the awesome exxagerated expressions.

Galett. More outspoken of the two Princess’s. Combine the “I serve Justice” personality of Touka (from Utawarerumono) with the Tsundere of Takako (from Otoboku) and you get Galett. Very serious about what she does, Galett is a good character who always comments on the scene and has enthusiasm which makes her moe.

Christina. So far the series hasn’t really given much about her. But it has implied that she has a dark past (something about being half-peasant half-noblity). So far she’s played the role of the girl “who wants to help out…but can’t” but thankfully that hasn’t been emphasized so much so once again…not a bad character.

Marple. Oh right her. She’s just a side character. Basically a 8(?) year old (who doesn’t qualify as “loli” as some would say) she’s just there for comedy and not for any story purpose.

The Black Haired Woman whose name I don’t know. …….Yeah I don’t kno2 anything about her, looks like she’s somewhat important though.

And thus the series begins.

If you want to know if you’ll like this series, read the first chapter, It shows the comedic and cute aspects of this series aswell as the seriousness theme.

Personally I like it. It’ simple and doesn’t require alot of devotion from the reader. It’s got comedy. and the art is nice to look at.

The one behind the animation is Shaft, and from experience with Shaft’s work and the trailer that I have faith that the animation will be alright. Shaft is perfect for animating simple series, and their good at animating comedy.
